Very, very long story but... My father-in-law purchased new an ´83 or ´84 Seca 900. Like any good bike he rode the %!¤ out of it but it has been in storage since at least ´94. I don´t know why he stopped riding it I just know he did, I assume some type of mechanical failure but I don´t know for sure. The bike sat in storage with discussions of possibly restoring it for me of for my brother-in-law (his son) but we never took any action. I know it´s cliche but my father-in-law passed away suddenly and unexpectedly a little over a year and a half ago and I kick myself in the %!¤everyday for not pushing for us to restore that bike together. I had the will but not the technical ability. It´s amazing how easy regret can be consuming. So now, I have 2 bikes a BMW that has been passed down from my wife´s grandfather to my father-in-law to me and a Yamaha FZ1 that I bought new a couple years ago. My brother-in-law had always rode but was never really a ´bike´ guy. We have taken a trip together, he on his fathers handed down BMW and I on my Yamaha and now that he is stationed at Ft. Lewis I hope that single trip turns into many more. So this is where I need help, my brother-in-law is currently deployed in Afganistan (2nd tour) he is scheduled to be home around June of 2012. I would love to give him his fathers restored Seca 900 as a welcome home gift. I still don´t have the technical ability but I do have the will and the support of our family to make it happen. I am not looking for free but I am looking for ´this guy knows his way around a 900 and is fair´. The bike is in tact, as far as I can tell no missing pieces and it has been stored inside. For being 25+ years old it is actually in great shape. I am located in Tacoma, WA and if possible would prefer someone local but I am willing to take the bike as far as Salem, OR or Spokane, WA. I assume it will cost more to restore than what the bike is worth but that is why I shared the story above, it´s sentimental value far exceeds its physical value. Thank you, Toby tfeller@wamail.net |
