I have an 83 goldwing 1100. Really like it, bought it last summer with 31,000 miles on it. been reading the posts in this forum fo r this bike, I would agree the headlight does not put out enough light....Yes you can fairly easily drop the starter without dropping the pipes, had mine off for a rebuild. Biggest problem with this bike seems to be battery power. I bought a battery tender charger and plug mine in each time after riding it, and starting and voltage problems are gone. My next battery will be an OEM Yuasa brand however, these discount ones just don´t have enough power. These 1100´s seem to have a few alternator and transmission noises, yet they go and go. Had to have tires new Dunlops front and back were $430.00 installed. JC whitney and chris chrome inc.com seem to have the most trim parts for this bike. I´d like to buy the oil dip stick accessory ($20.00) the stock site guage for oil is unreadable (worthless). I like this bike, whish I could afford a new one, but this one is doing me OK....
