rattling noice right side low rpm clutch out in neutral

When idling in neutral with the clutch disengaged there is a rattling sound (like way maladjusted rocker arms) coming out of the right hand side of the motor. When I engage the clutch the noise goes away. I consulted my repair manual and there appears to be no adjustment for the clutch other than the adjustment for whaen the clutch engages which is made with the small adjuster wheel located at the clutch lever. Any ideas? This is a 1985 vf1100c with 20000 miles. The clutch works fine no slippage.
