I own an 83 XL 250. I recently had the engine rebuilt. Finding lower end bearings was a bit challenging. The bike is still being broken in, however; it has good tractor like torque. It is a good mild mannered trail bike. It is completely stock. It is a little heavy and excess power is non existent. There dont seem to be any real aftermarket parts left for this year. A supertrapp is still available but you will have to fabricate some exhaust pipe in order to install it. It is a good cross country bike as long as the terrain is not too steep, soft and choppy. It just won´t handle that combination. It handles whoops okay but again it does not have the power to loft the front end like an XL 500. The engine was completely rebuilt so if you have any questions I may be able to help. Scott |
