My 84 XJ650 Maxim is still running strong. I replaced the battery, which had somehow run almost completely dry. The valve adjustment I had done early last year didn´t really end up lasting too long. Within about 500Km, the valves were again ticking and the ringing in the head returned. I then thought... why not try Winn´s TuneUp - an oil additive I´ve used over the years with some of my older cars that had noisy valves or lifters. I put in a half-can of Winn´s (a full can will work for a car´s 4-5 quart/litre oil sump and the XJ650 takes only 2.5 litres of oil). The result was amazing... I started it up after adding the 1/2 can of Winn´s, and within a minute the ticking and ringing in the head had quieted amazingly. My neighbour Percy, the best mechanic I´ve ever met, also recommended I try \ |
