I purchased this bike as a barely running, missing many pieces about 10 years ago in Bloomfield PA. Since then I have had the frame straightened, added multiple parts and just recently had the top end done. I have an 1990 XT 350 also. I went through this process and the 350 starts 1st kick and runs like a champ, every time. The 250 is just a mother to start! I just replaced the coil and igniter box under the tank. I have a very strong spark. It takes 30-40 kicks where it doesn´t even sputter, then it fires right up out of no where and once warmed up runs very well. Me, and my mechanic are baffled? I thought it was electrical but now It seems carburetor? My next move is pull the carb, completely clean it and check the float, float needle and main jet for blockage. Also synchronization of the two carb pieces. Please advise, thank you, Steelboy32 |
