Two Exhaust Ports?

I just bought a rusty wreck of a 1984 DR250 C or at least that is what I was told it was. I noticed two exhaust ports. I´m a bit new at this and don´t know what the story is as all other single cylinder engines I know of have a single exhaust port. Can somebody help me here?
