Hello all..
First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Matt and I´m 22 years old. I´ve always wanted a Harley, but was unsure that i wanted to go straight to a cruiser. I KNEW, however, that I´d never touch a crotch rocket. I have been looking at older (85-95) bikes, mostly japanese due to cost. I´ve recently got a new job, nay, career where I can afford nearly any bike I want. Wandered into the nearest Harley shop, sat on a few fatboys, softails... then I saw it. The NightRod... I kinda wrote it off as too much money untill I returned home to research it and found a base MFSR price of less than 15,000. To give it some mental competition, I next wandered into the nearest Honda dealer... I immediatly was drawn to the new VTX series, both the 1300 and the 1800... the 1300 SEEMS like a somewhat comparable bike, untill you really start to look at specs (weight, HP, compression, cornering angles, braking capabilities, etc) The 1800 is somewhat more comparable as far as performance (105 reported HP, fuel injected, but also 100+ lbs heavier) Also, numerous internet sources noted the same pitfalls of the VTX, being uncomfortable seat, rattling, pulling to the right and uneven tire wear, even reports of the handle bars shaking uncontrolably without both hands on the bars. Mind you, I´m a novice, but something does not sound right in thier front end geometry. Also note the over abundance of plastic.

Thats why I´m here, I suppose. Sorry for such a long introduction, haha... I look forward to some excellent conversations with everybody.
