short in wiring

sometime last season right towards the end when i would take a turn my lights (head lamp, side, rear, and brake lights) would intermittently cut out. My turn signal was not affected. I narrowed down the place of the open however its in the huge mass of wires right before they enter the light case. I assume its a grounding wire problem, however im not sure how to go about testing/fixing it. anyone with experience with this who has some information on how to fix it would be much appreciated.
