I own a late 1980 w reg. gsx 250 e. I am now into my third year of ownership of the bike and hopefully can advise prospective buyers ot this bike what to expect in general terms. I bought the bike from a dealer/breaker in Aberdeen for 500 pounds with a years mot in 2001. It only had 9797 miles recorded as it had lay off the road for the past nine years. I have added another 8000 miles to that total. Weak points are the electrics. The rectifier/regulator has been replaced and the alternator has been rewound. The bike needs to be revved to make progress and the engine is high revving (10 000 red line) for a small capacity four stroke of that era. Top speed is about 80 mph and fuel consumption is about 54 mpg. The bike does not run smoothly in cold wet/damp conditions. It is used dailly for a 30 mile round trip to work and is okay for that purpose. I |
