Bike shuts off after warming up.

I am looking into purchasing an 81 GS550T, but it has the following problem:
The bike runs fine until it is warmed up, once it warms I have trouble keeping it running. It is not over heating, it could be either an electrical problem or a fuel problem, Right now I´m leaning toward an electrical problem with the rectifier / regulator, because once the bike cools down it will start right back up again.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem, or knows what might be the cause? Thanks.
