Hi, just found this group in a web search, hope it is acceptable for a guest to jump in with a question: I have a 1981 Suzuki GS650G, the VIN plate has GS650G plus a small area stamped x. It has shaft drive, the wheels are the Katana pattern with 19" on front and 17" on back. The tank which has been repainted looks like a standard model 1981 GS650 not like the Katana pictures I have found. Color is black, side covers have gold and red stripes. The front fender is plastic with the same Gold and Red stripes. I am interested in understanding the model and is it a Katana?? One web site lists a GS650Gx as a Kantana sport? I am very new to Suzuki bikes, bought this one as a restoration project.
