Hello Jose, what you should look at in the first place are the pistons; are they already being replaced by oversized new ones or not. Then check the fuel system, my gs 850G from 1982 is currently having some problems with the carborettor, number 2 (from the left) doesn´t get any fuel at all, making it a 3 cylinder! This is not unlikely to happen on more bikes I guess. Then there is the tensioncontroller which is simply used up after a certain time. The main thing concerning the engine is therefore to ask how many and which parts have already been replaced. Then note the fork in front since it is not the strongest one ever build concerning dim. But in general it is a good bike since it even runs as a 3 cylinder (!?!) and is built as a very strong construction. GOOD LUCK, Gideon |
