Getting a bike running

I have a 81 DT175 that is stripped down. My son would like to get it running just as a offroad bike. I don´t want to spend much on it. I don´t consider even putting lights back on. First thing I would like to do is put necessary wiring back on and make sure that I can get spark. If that works I will proceed to go through carb. Can anyone help with were to start. 5 wires come from mag. I believe I will only need to hook up one to coil to check this out but so far no luck.
