Hi - I have owned 6 XT500 , but until recently never a CDI bike .My latest is an 81 that came into my hands with no CDI box attached. I keep reading they (YAMAHA) had lots of probs with this U.S. 2 year bike ignition . Am I destined (or smart)to replace the electronic style motor with a points motor or does any one know of a company that will sell me a new proven track record stock wiring replacement CDI box. Is the Stator a common suspect ? A used CDI is 30 years old and Wayne Gum from New Zealand seems unreachable. There is a company Electrix world in the UK but their wires connectors look different . Thanks
