81 Yamaha XS 400 Special discussion forum:

I have an XS400. I believe it´s a 1981. The electric starter motor appears to be dead. When connected directly to a battery it barely turns over and it only turns over after repositioning the output shaft. (Dead spots).

Is this the sort of thing I should replace or try and fix? Where will I get a used or rebuilt starter motor? Are there any other discussion areas for XS400 owners?
