I´ve just purchased a 1981 YAMAHA 400 XS Special. I noticed that the
label under the seat specifies 90 octane Reg.(leaded) fuel. Are there
conversions available to run unleaded fuel? Is this necessary on this
bike? I know lead additive is available at Automotive supply centers.
The prior owner didn´t give instruction/recommendation on the fuel
type I should use. The bike seems to run fine, but who knows what it´s doing to the valves/heads...ect.
