Yamaha 750xs special running issues

I have a 78 750xs special, I’ve gotten it to run and idle by itself but whenever you hop on and toss it in gear and give it gas it dies everytime, it also builds pressure and white smoke in the oil reservoir any ideas or tips to help me try and figure this problem out?
