A l980 FXE electric start Lowrider model was 1340 cc. cost about $7,500 in 1980 but could be had for about $6,000 cash money. Put 100,000 miles on it with one top end and finally an engine rebuild and a new transmission at 100,000. Through away the electronic ignition in favor of points. (You can get a set of points almost anywhere but you can´t replace the electronic ignition out in bum f**k when it breaks down) It was my only tranportation for about 10 years and other than a little hard to start on a cold morning I had very little trouble with it during all that time. I´m now 63 years old, still have that old Harley out in the shop. Can´t ride anymore due to arthritis but I go out and start it up every couple of weeks just to keep oil in the top end. I am more than happy with the purchase of that Harley. You might say it changed my entire life after I bought it.
