Long time since this post, but my recent experience my help others. After taking the carbs apart 5 times I finally discovered the problem preventing fuel from getting to reservoir. Drive out the pin that pivots the float and chances are you´ll need to gently pull the needle valve from the port. Old fuel will gum this up real quick.
