this sounds like a point / condenser or spark plug issue but 1 st check wiring and kill/ignition shutoff switches( understand that these are a ground out /shut-off magneto system and therefor donĀ“t need the battery to run ) if plug is old , change it , then check points next ,if good and clean ,then suspect the condensor-replace this .One of these should solve the issue.
