A couple of points: 1.Second (or higher) gear won´t engage whilst bike is stationary. The gearbox output shaft has to be turning before the neutral finder gubbins (non-technical term) will disengage. 2. Having said that, push starting a bike with a dead battery is still a waste of time because the ignition circuit requires a good current to fire and the dead battery will soak up any current the alternator (or car battery) produces. Don´t try removing the battery from the circuit altogether (like an old magneto bike) as this will fry your charging circuit/electronic ignition. Buy a new battery and charge it properly: Any other course of action is a waste of (your and my) time. 3. If, with a new, charged battery, things still don´t work... oh forget it, it will work. Don´t be cheap, buy a new battery. |
