Lowering?

I just bought a 1980 XS850. It´s in great shape, only 24K on the clock. It was just too good a deal to pass up, but it IS a bit tall for me. Previously on the board someone mentioned shorter shocks as a way to lower the seat height a little. Does anyone have a recommendation on which shock would be a good fit? I weigh just under 200 and I won´t be carrying any passengers at all, so it looks like I might be able to get it 1 1/2 to maybe 2 inches lower. Does anyone have any experience at trying this?
