I bought one that needed some work. I have replaced the front forks bearings and seals, rebuilt the carbs, repainted the tank, put on UNI-airfilters, left the stock pipes. This triple XS850 is a great motorcycle even for an experienced rider. I can recommend the style, but $2200 is a little steep. I paid $850 for mine and would sell it for $1500, because of the condition that it is in. I am a 250 lb rider and carry riders on my 850 all the time. They are great for around town, and if you need to get out of the state, they will carry you long distance with no problems. I say, negotiate a lower price and then buy it.
