I recently aquired a 1980 XS850 and I´m having trouble with both front and rear brakes. The front brakes seem to tighten up to the point that I can´t even push the bike. if I take the calipers apart and put them back together I can´t find anything wrong and they seem to work fine for only a short time. The front wheel turns freely and the brakes stop the bike but after a very short time they tighten up again. The rear caliper mounting and the torque stopper seem to have enough play that they allow the rotor to dig into the caliper mount and a fair amount of metal has been scpaped off. I don´t see what holds them in position on the axle. Can anyone offer any clues? |
