New (to me) Yamaha XS 850 Special |

Hey all - I have acquired a Yamaha XS 850 that needs some work done. I am VERY new to bikes and to working on them. I do all my own work on my car tho, so I feel like with a little bit of a learning curve, this shouldn´t be too bad. What I´ve been told that the bike needs is a new fork seal and the carbs need work. First off, how tough are these jobs on this bike? Are any special tools required outside of the typical home mechanic set? Also, this bike has been sitting for 2+ years. What else should be done prior to starting it up asside from changing the oil and coolant? Thanks for your replys. |
