Splutters and dies over 5000RPM |

My recently acquired 1981 CX500 Custom runs perfect when stone cold, but on heating up will start missing and dies vaguely between 5000 and 6500 RPM. one side a bit earlier than the other. REDUCING throttle will get it going again, IF opening the throttle wide at say 3000RPM, It goes fine up to nearly 5000. Different plugs will vary the exact RPM it fails at, And after idling at at traffic light for a while, it it is even worse for a minute. On some plugs I can nurse it under low load past the 6500 and then it revs out fine to 9000! Although throtlle setting influences the matter, a carby clean and even removing the aircleaner makes NO difference! WHERE do I start looking for a solution?? HELP!!!!! Peter (Who would like ot go faster than 85 Km/Hr) |
