How difficult is it to rebuid the clutch?

How difficult is it to rebuid the clutch?

The other day on a ride I started having a problem with the clutch. When I went to downshift thru the gears from 4th down to 1st. The clutch stuck in second. I had to pop the clutch to get the bike started and that unstuck the clutch.
I stopped by my local mechanic to have him test ride the bike. There was a gremlin noise coming out of the clutch at low rpms. The bike was smooth at higher rpms. We open the clutch inspection port and ran the bike. At low rpms there was a tinking noise that went away as the rpm increased.
Before I open the transmission case what should I expect to be broken so I can have the part(s) on hand?
