| SEEKING A 1984–1986 KAWASAKI GPZ900R “NINJA 900” — TOP GUN MOTORCYCLE Friends of Wellesley Veterans is seeking the owner of a vintage Kawasaki GPZ900R Ninja, preferably a 1984–1986 model in the iconic red-and-black color scheme, to participate in a special community veterans event in Wellesley, Massachusetts, in May 2027. The GPZ900R became one of the most recognizable motorcycles in movie history when it was ridden by Maverick in the original 1986 film Top Gun. Our 2027 Wellesley Wonderful Weekend and Wellesley Veterans Parade will celebrate the theme “American History of Flight.” As part of the celebration, we are developing a special Top Gun tribute highlighting the relationship between aviation, popular culture, and the men and women who have served in U.S. military aviation. We would love to hear from an owner who might be willing to bring a GPZ900R to Wellesley for a display and/or ceremonial appearance. The motorcycle would be prominently featured and treated as a special historical vehicle. If you own one—or know someone who does—we would be grateful to hear from you.
