I love my turbo, I really do, and the relationship has been for a fair few years now and at the moment I put about 200 miles a week on them as in fact now Ive got two of them, one (externally) standard and one in a tube perimeter frame with a garrett t3 and other goodies.. The standard one still has her standard skinny tires (best not mention getting 800-1000 miles out of a new bt45 battleaxe on the rear due to wheelspin under extreme useage) and just looks so original, that I often hear the comment in the title. However, hid out of sight behind the plenum is a dump valve, inside the old air filter is a pneumatic regulator (I run a k&n on the compressor housing snout) and ive got a dual port wastegate so I can vary boost (I run about 16psi on ron98, any more and detonation sets in), the ecu is in race mode with a richening resistor and she has a ported head and 1100 bodies. All of this invisible. In fact the only two things you can spot (and you have to look) are the straight through single pipe and a spacer plate to accomodate the lockup clutch to handle all the extra ponies. Theres loads of more tuning tips n stuff over at 750turbo.com, but I should point out im one of the moderators over there. All this gives me is real sleeper bike status, just a nice old bike till I let loose the dogs of war on whatever unsuspecting power ranger has fell victim to me this time. If you like to walk softly and carry a big stick but are prepared to learn about your bike and do some maintenance, you´ll love the turbo, if you just want another consumer product you can put the key in, buy a newer bike and join the sheep. And Ill see you out on the road ;) |
