So I´m writing this on behalf of my father, who bought a low mileage ´84 a few years ago. I have to say he loves it, and puts on as many kilometer´s as is possible in a year. When he purchased the bike, he was aware of the stader history with the 1200 engine, but bought anyway. 5 days later, it went on him in the middle of nowhere. After a four digit bill, he was on his way again. Other than the stader repair, he maintains it, puts rubber on it, and it runs day in, day out. Our riding season is about 8 months, so the miles add up. So that was a long around to my ultimate question. I want to replace the cassette system that came with the bike. I´ve looked for mod kits, but the console is definately NOT din. I´ve also considered just getting him a sattelite service, and then there are no mods, just an addition. Has anyone had success or failures with either of these? Any input would be more than appreciated.
