Why do I torture myself? |

2 years ago I fell in love with one of these at first site. It was an ugly bike but the potential swelled in my brain and so after scraping together I bought it. For 2 years I´ve continued to work and improve this bike.. guarenteed to turn heads in any city I got to.. however.. It has one major **** off... The first engine went on just after the Thelwall Viaduct near Manchester .. nothing fancy.. a plume of smoke.. power vanished.. as did one of the ipstons alongside a cracked cylinder. Hurt, I found another engine.. in decent nic too.. I stripped it completely and for 8 months I rebuilt it. New barrings, rings, seals... the works. When it started up for the first time it didn´t even need the carbs setting.. it sang like an angel... That is till about a thousand miles down the road.. this time just before the Thelwall.. plume of smoke. A sticky valve.. a squished spark plug.. and cracked and vanished piston.. I was devasteted. Yet.. I maniged to pick myself up and get another engine. This time, dont mess, slap it in. Lube it up with Slick 50 and top notch oil.. also, a mild fuel additive of Reddex to clean her up after I´d done a thousand miles on her. Not bad for a 2 week turn around. That is till today when an all too familiar sensation that now fulfills the roll of my most hated nightmares at night returned. Thelwall a stone throw away.. Sandbach services.. a sticky valve punches a hole ´through´ my piston in Cylinder 1. Yeah she still goes, gargling on her own oil.. I´m poor. A tudent in fact.. And I´ve sacrificed much for this bike.. in fact.. nearly everything. I´m a biker by blood and my wheels have failed me time and time again. I´ve never seen another bike that I liked so much.. This bike when it runs is a stubborn dream.. yet reliability.. forget it. My dreams and passion have been smashed today. Don´t be fooled as I was. Steer clear of this bike!! (Or at least till I figure if I can put the VFR engine into it...) Good riding y´all |
