Battery, Bomb or balloon?
Went for a ride (120km there and back) yesterday. After a straight 60km run at moderate 120km/h. Stopped for coffee and battery too weak to start. A short trip with the headlight off recharged it enough to start as it should. On my way back however, stopped for coffee after about 60km and heard a high-pitched whistling. Cutting a long story short, found it was air from the battery which had blown up like a balloon. Figured it was the battery being overcharged so disconnected and insulated the big left hand cable that comes from the motor and tottered home.
Now trying to fault-find with a fully charged replacement battery because the oild indicator light only receives about 2.4V DC.

Any help or advice? Rectifier, regulator? Bicycle ... ?
