Info on Dry Sump System

My son is building an off road buggy. We bought a BMW 650 motor. We have mounted it in the frame but need information on the oil set up. How big a tank? Does the oil flow into the bottom of the sump and out the top? Should the tank be mounted above the sump? If oil is allowed to flow back into the sump when standing, how much? We would appreciate any information or advice.
