I have a flame job too! I´m the 2nd & 4th owner. 65k & running like a top ( other than a few down shifting issues= character) The ´86 FXWG was a true parts dump of left over shovel parts by the factory. They tried to dress up a few of the %&#!¤s & unwittingly created the most unique bike in Harley history. I spoke via phone w/ a Harley ´historian´ at the Milwaukee office in ´91 when I bought mine the first time, & was told there were 1199 FXWGs built in ´86. The whole group was to have the (factory named) candy cranberry & candy brandy wine flame scheme, but at 359 due to time consumption, the rest of the 840 were painted solid black. I was told mine was 159/359. I know of 2 that were repainted black, & another that burned to the ground. Each dealer was supposed to get 1 but many dealers refused delivery for fear of being stuck w/ an antiquated 4 speed. I have the original brochure which calls the colors fog candy red & candy burgundy. Long before Harley ever thought of numbering paint schemes, but it´s safe to say it´s a rare less than 400 run, so worth only what you can get for it. There´s 1 that shows up semi regularly on Denver C/L for $5k & 30k miles. I´ve found ´84-´86 FXST parts to work on my unheard of little Wideglide. The parts guy where this bike sold new awhile back told me Harley didn´t make a Wideglide in ´86! HA HA!!!!
