My 85 FLHTC Primary drive sounds like a thrashing machine. I was told this was normal. Recently it sheared the clutch mainshaft key. The mainshaft on the 85 is tapered with a single key. Yhis year they also went to a wet clutch system. I replaced the key and hub bearing. My primary is still so loud with an occasional knock I am leary about getting to far from home.
