Thought I had bought the best value bike when I bought my brand new 74, 74 in December of 1973 but....After 54,000 miles and three rebuilds of the main engine, two complete changes of the front and rear disc brakes, rotors, master cylinders, one change of the electric starter and clutch after it engaged at 50 MPH (rain in the starting relay, hangs upside down under the battery), replacement of the stock chain after only 4,000 miles (in the mountains of BC), various chrome trim parts falling off, broken spokes on the rear wheel, I can say that even though the bike was a delight to drive and a real head turner, it was the most expensive ($5314.35 cdn original new price) motorcycle I have ever owned. Put me off Harley altogether. Now that AMF is nolonger trying to ruin the tarnished Harley name, I might consider getting another one. (As soon as my 1973 Norton Commando wears out). Too bad the bike was in all honesty a piece of shit.
