He John. I think I can help with this one. I´ve been changing the oil in my ´88 for several years now. The oil filter is located directly under the bike just behind the engine. The drain plug is located under the right side saddlebag. There should be a small plug that attaches to the end of a hose that is connected to the bottom of the oil pan just under the battery tray.
