Your bike will have an enclosed chain final drive.(unless someone changed it. Which is unlikely) It is a normal chain drive with a metal shroud around the rear sprocket. Between the shroud and the primary are a upper and lower rubber boot affair. This keeps the chain totally enclosed in oil that you put in via a bolt at about 3\4 of an inch from the bottom of the rear sprocket shroud. this setup really protects a chain but is a pain when it is not sealing properly. Dont expect to change a tire like any other bike out there. It is very different and I suggest a service manual or talking to someone who has done it. the gold eagle on your front fender is a commerative do-dad celebrating the buy back from AMF by Harley managment. I have one on an 82 Flt and my wife´ 82 fxr had one but the FXR one went missing. I think they are a bit rare and someone must have really wanted it. Len |
