I know its a little late, but I have one of these with all the Screamin Eagle 2 upgrades, a Mustang seat, and custom handlebars, along with forward controls and a sport wind screen. You are right, these bikes really do well with customization. I paid 6500 usd for mine with 18,000 miles, but I live in Texas. If you still have the chance I would go for it.
