Centre light on console in japanese - what does it mean?

I´ve just purchased a mint 1985 GSXR750 - however! I´ve noticed the centre light on the console (red in japanese) lighting up from time to time. All the other lights on the console are in English, ignition, neutral etc....can anyone tell me what this light means?
