I am happy to own a suzuki dr600-85. I believe it to be a very good
multi-purpose bike. It´s not too heavy and has a quite strong engine.Big gas tank for longer tours in the outback and a suspension that´s ok. It can be modyfied if needed.

It´s downsides is that it looks a bit boring. I dr has undergone a
transformation. Bigger headlight, all black and silver paintjob, louder muffler, black handsewn saddle, bigger brake, and various small details has made it to be a really grim ****!

So go out and buy one! It´s not expensive. Let your imagination flow. You can also increase it´s bore to 660 cc. Tune it up with a new carburetor and additional stuff. You will end up with about 60 hp and lot´s of fun.
