This was also my first street bike, and i loved it so much that through all the years of reading reviews about the latest and greatest sport bikes, and despite renting some very fine and capable modern sport touring bikes, i still have the old Ninja. Of course it would be great if she were 100 pounds lighter and 40HP stronger, but nothing that´s happened in the last 20 years has made the old girl any less fun to ride than when she was new in 1985.

There seem to still be a lot of ZX600´s out there, but not many in good condition any more. It´s sad to see all the ratty bikes being parted out on eBay, but it is a nice source of cheap spares and replacement parts. I´ve been trying to keep mine like new, and occasionally buying new parts from Kawasaki (via CycleParts.com - check out http://www.cycle-parts.com/), though some parts are out of stock everywhere now.

After i had to store the bike outdoors (though under a cover) for a few years, the frame is specked with rust; some day, i´ll do a complete tear-down and restoration. In five more years, i´ll be able to apply for antique license plates!

Well, sorry to ramble on, but i´m hoping to get a little more discussion started. We Ninja 600 owners need a place to talk about our bikes, modifications, replacement parts, etc.! This place is probably as good as any if we can get a critical mass of people to visit.

Have fun and keep the shiny side up!

...dave
