I agree with Smiley... ("on such an old bike several eletricl things might be wrong")I have heard that spark plug cable should be changed with a new one to have a "big fat blue spark". On a mono cylinder, if anything makes fail the first ignition the engine simply... doesn´t start! My XL when it´warm, doesn´t need me to "climb" on foot pad to kick it on...
