Too tall for my fxrt
Too tall for my fxrt

Love my 84 fxrt. just purchased 5 mos. ago and it looks 2 years old. It has ev27 cam, s&s super e, crane electronic ignition, and screemin eagle pipes. I had to have a new base and head gasket with updated head bolts (86 and later) and just added factory footboards. When I ride it feels like my knees are above my hips. I moved my handlebars forward and need to cut out part of the windshield when i turn. This helped a little but I still feel cramped up. The bike has an old Corbin seat, super wide and comfortable. Anyone else out there long legged and armed who has adjusted an Fxrt to fit? I have thought of lowering the footboards but dont want to scrape. Is there a way I could put new shocks on that raise the bike so I could do this. I also have considered putting on a police style solo seat which looks like it raises the rider up. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks. Chris.
