I would insure it for more, yes. You got a bargain if you got it for that price but the assessors at Carol Nash know a thing or two about bike value and they were happy with my value extimate and at the time mine was not a pretty sight. Like I said, the bike is only worth as much as the buyer will pay. In good nick it will be worth more than a tatty one. How much would you sell yours for? They are rare bikes and for the time being are much sort after, who knows how fashions and taste will change, but with the prospect of more and more sanitaised rubber-mounted Harleys coming out there will always be a place for a good simple solid-mount bike with history. But you will find out that there is a penalty for owning a rare bike and that is the unbelievable price of some spares and that fact that many others are made of solid unobtainium. I´ve had to become something of a anorack about this as my experience of spares counter staff has not been very reassuring. If you haven´t already done so you MUST get a factory parts manual Part No. 99455-86A, it will give you the correct part numbers but also show where everything goes. I discovered that many cycle parts on my bike for instance were either on in the wrong order or missing altogether and numerous other parts had been installed incorrectly. God forbid you have the same problems that I have had, all due to previous owners by the way not H-D, but you can always email me for advice if you need it! There isn´t anywhere in the bike that I haven´t had to go...........
