Strange chrome bar at bottom left side

Strange chrome bar at bottom left side

I have this bar at the bottom of my 1985 K 100
It is chrome about 12 inches long connects at the center stand has a knuckle joint in the middle of it this thing is about 24 inches long in total length....any Ideas can i remove this bar ?
