R80 seat hinge and broken black nylon fitting |

Hi All I bought a 1984 R80 at the back end of last year. The seat only hinges part way open - insufficient to get at the tool box / battery. The seat hinges are bolted to the bottom of the seat and finish in drilled holes which slide over the hinge pins which are integral with the frame. Where the hinge pins are located on the frame, both front and back, there is a black nylon fitting held in place with an allen screw that stops the seat opening fully. I´ve taken these black nylon bits off and now the seat opens properly. Examining the black nylon pieces I can see that they have both had something broken off them. Can anyone tell me what they are supposed to do? A picture would be brilliant. Also - the seat hinge pins have a groove machined in them. Any idea why? Cheers |
