RD400D Rear Brake Spring

I just bought a RD400D and am rebuilding, frame off. I took some pictures but I guess not enought. When removing the rear brake pedal and shaft the spring came off and I did not see how to put it back together. Does anyone know where the long part of the spring goes? Not sure how to add a picture.
