maybe the decompression deal that the lever was set on has some how come open?

if that´s not it and you have NO compression at all, i´m betting it ain´t your rings, sounds like you gotta nice hole in the top of your piston. pull your plug and kick it over dry and see if their is any metal in there. or some obvious thing you can see with a LED light maybe, (I have a telescopic one that is KILLER for looking in tight places) (-- wal mart 3 bucks. batteries included.

I picked up my 79 500 today- its the rattiest pice a junk you ever saw. LOL BUT IT RUNS. has so many missing bolts it´s incredible. i bet it has 15 pounds of missing nuts and bolts. LOL

gonna be awhile b4 its on the road i´d say.
